Find a File on Your Computer

No matter how organized you are at some point you probably won’t be able to find a file on your computer. This is especially true for those of us who’ve downloaded and created lots of files.

The video below shows how to search a computer running Windows Vistaâ„¢ for a file by the file’s name.

Now if you’re a Windows user not using Vista you can still learn how to find a file with this video. The screens are different however the technique is the same.

And here are 3 other thing to note:

  1. The search goes quickly in the video. If you have a lot of files on your hard drive it may take some time for your search to complete.
  2. If you have several files or folders that contain the words you’ve searched on in their file name your search will display all of them.
  3. You don’t have to search your entire hard drive to locate files. If you know they are in a folder you can go to that folder and do a search.

You can watch the video here.

To Your Success,
Susan
